Interactive Stories

Interactive Stories showcases projects from Digital Media Communication, a Mass Communication specialisation. With modules such as Content Design for Mobile Devices, students are trained to repackage content for audience engagement on digital media.

Integrated Digital Media offers an insight into the coding mechanics that are involved in creating an interactive game. To further the students’ understanding of the module, part of the course syllabus requires the construction of physical exhibit prototypes to complement the game. Through both hands-on and digital experience, individuals are equipped with the technical know-hows to design an interactive project they can proudly present to prospective users.

The Process of Every Code
Ideation

Every project starts with an idea, and designing for the digital age is no exception. Design for digital involves many variables, and especially with the increased variety of devices with different sizes and screen resolutions, it is essential that each user experience is considered to ensure consistency on all platforms. Moreover the visual considerations, we also evaluate the means of user interaction to effectively connect the user to the message and enhancing their experience with the subject.

Creation

Bringing a raw idea to life is also another step of the design process. In creating code, designers ourselves also tend to take a step back from just making a working product, rather we tend to look at the bigger picture at minute details that can keep our works simple, smooth, yet effective. In this aspect, we discover ways to simplify our work such as learning more advanced markups, omitting unnecessary lines and optimising external assets.

Confirmation

Rome was not built in a day, and neither is a great code. At the end of each project, we conduct multiple rounds of "quality-checks", also known as the user-testing process. Testing a product does not just take into account the functioning elements, we also verify the end-user's understanding of the message delivered through design – making sure the core objective of delivering the message is met.

The Future of Media Design

The magic of translating content from print magazines into interactive elements, such as pop-ups and videos on technological devices, is explored in Content Design for Mobile Devices. Apart from learning how to engage audiences in today’s digital age, students are are granted the freedom to come up with the theme of their very own interactive magazines, and breathe life into them by means of creativity and passion.

Articles in the magazine are also specific to Korean culture and street fashion, including skincare routines and airport fashion as well.
