Mass Communication

Mass Communication (MCM) is a widely recognised course in Singapore’s media industry, where it equips budding media practitioners with the skills and versatility needed to handle a wide variety of media projects. From journalism and advertising, to radio and video production, MCM offers students access to a ‘media buffet’, presenting them with various hands-on learning opportunities to gain industry experience.

Social media marketing campaign

A 12-strong agency comprising multiple sectors such as content, creative and digital media, this capstone project aims to divide and conquer a full-fledged campaign. Through the use of animated videos, digital posters, interactive websites or content for social networks, students learn to convert metaphorical ideas into key concepts and works to achieve campaign objectives for external clients. Some of the external companies they have worked with include the Central Narcotics Bureau and the Ministry of Manpower.

One of the biggest challenges we had to overcome was the lack of face-to-face interaction due to the restrictions we were put under. Conducting the entire project through a computer screen, we missed out on the excitement and fun that comes through when an entire team works on a campaign together. That said, we still managed to eventually overcome the odds and create a successful campaign together.
One of our biggest takeaways was exceeding our initial projected numbers. As the entire project was conducted from start to finish during the Circuit Breaker period, we did not set out with very high expectations of ourselves. In totality, the entire campaign managed to garner over 1.3 million impressions over the short course of less than 8 weeks.
